Merel Vorst (1997, NL) is a textile, video and performance artist who has always been fascinated by people and their behaviour. After a period of research, she graduated with her work called CALM DOWN HUMAN, based on non-verbal communication between humans. She uses mostly costumes and (textile) installations to tell stories about humans and their behavior, their relation to nature and consumerism.
These stories are being captured in a form of film, performance, sculpture and include a different kind of human, surrounded by abstract worlds. Creating in an investigative and provocative way, she aims to encourage people to question the meaning of their behaviour, existence and movement in this world.
